I believe the serial number makes it a 1943 - which is nice because I have an M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, and a Mosin Nagant that all by chance happened to be dated 1943. The top and the bottom of the slide show some signs of use and I have no problem with that.

Just received my Field Grade, and it's an Ithaca frame and slide which makes me very happy. Unable to tell if this was rebuilt or merely just inspected.įind duplicate words in text file online () Interesting Arsenal inspection marks for inspector FK (Frank Krack 1941-1946) from RIA Rock Island arsenal. 1943 Ithaca Field grade that at first glance appears to be all correct. Of course I'd feel better about it if y'all can reassure me this is par for the course as far as 75 year old combat pistols go! Looking forward to it getting out of CA FFL jail and sending some lead downrange. Is this normal? Any suggestions welcomed. If/when the slide stop engages with the empty mag and I remove the magazine, the slide will close. Mag provided and an aftermarket mag are hit or miss whether the slide will lock open when the mag is empty. I'm a little concerned by the amount of play/slop/wiggle between frame and slide - you can see the loose tolerances when manipulated by hand and can hear it when you shake it in your hand - is this normal? Only other thing that concerns me which I may be able to fix is the slide stop. Weapon is VERY well used which is fine by me, I'm going to use it a LOT more. Overall pretty happy to have received USGI frame/slide.
